Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS)

Dear Harris Community,

Harris School will continue to implement PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) this school year. PBIS provides school-wide strategies to help students achieve both social and learning goals. We know that when good behavior and good teaching come together, our students will excel academically and socially. We will continue to use PBIS to help our students have a safe, and positive environment and to provide consistency in all areas of our school.

We will cultivate respect, responsibility, and safety. Through PBIS, the staff at Harris School will use common language for behavior expectations in each area of the school. On a daily basis, we must teach and reinforce the expectations to Be Safe, Be Responsible, and Be Respectful. By explicitly teaching these expectations to the students, recognizing their growth and achievement, and rewarding their efforts, we will continue to build a community of learners.

The expectations for all student behavior is clear throughout our building, classrooms, cafeteria, hallways, restrooms, and playground. Staff members must model the behavior as well. Fidelity is the key to success. The expectations are posted in every classroom and throughout the school.

Thank you for your continued effort J
